Tour details
Gran Canaria in One Day
If you only have one day for Gran Canaria and want to see more than a single resort, this route shows the island in cross-section: from a colourful marina, along the cliffs of the western coastline, to Europe's only coffee plantation, and on to stone villages inland. A Polish-speaking guide accompanies you throughout the day.
Puerto de Mogán
The day begins in Puerto de Mogán, a town of canals, small bridges and flowers on every balcony. It's not for nothing that it's called the Venice of the Canary Islands. Colourful houses along the harbour, fishermen mending their nets and an elegant marina create an atmosphere that's hard to find in a typical resort.
Azulejos de Veneguera
The route continues through natural rock formations where layers of volcanic tuff have coloured the rocks in shades of green, red and yellow. It looks like a hand-laid mosaic, yet it's purely the result of millions of years of the island's geological history.
Playa de la Aldea
A quiet fishing town surrounded by cliffs, with views of the ocean and, on a clear day, of Tenerife. Here we stop for a traditional Canarian coffee.
Mirador del Balcón
One of the island's most iconic viewpoints. A glass platform over the western coast juts out above the cliffs and offers a view over the open waters of the Atlantic. The spot is especially striking in the afternoon light.
Puerto de las Nieves
A former fishing village with an authentic atmosphere and good food. This is where lunch with regional dishes is planned.
Agaete Coffee Valley
Gran Canaria is the only place in Europe where Arabica coffee is grown. The visit to the plantation in Agaete includes a tour and a tasting of local coffee and regional spirits. It's a spot little known to resort tourists, even though it's only a few dozen minutes' drive from the beaches.
Barranco Azuaje and Firgas
Driving through the Barranco Azuaje valley reveals a completely different side of the island: lush vegetation, ravines and a humid microclimate. Firgas, meanwhile, is a small town with stone mosaics, fountains and Canarian architecture that has survived without being remodelled to tourist standards.
Arucas
To close the day, Arucas, a town with a monumental basilica built of dark volcanic stone and a long-standing tradition of rum production.
