Tour details

Eastern Gran Canaria

The eastern part of Gran Canaria is off the standard tourist routes. Colonial towns, a valley with houses carved into the rock, a natural ocean geyser and little-known beaches that make the touristy south of the island feel like another world. A Polish-speaking guide accompanies you throughout the day.

Agüimes

The day begins with a walk through one of the island's best-preserved colonial towns. Narrow streets, historic buildings and sculptures scattered around the centre create an atmosphere that's hard to find in places geared toward mass tourism.

Guayadeque Ravine

One of Gran Canaria's more remarkable valleys. The island's first inhabitants, the Guanches, carved caves and entire settlements into the local rock. Some are still inhabited today. Seeing the houses with walls hewn from volcanic tuff and windows opening straight onto the valley makes a very different impression than any photo.

Ingenio and Canarian Coffee

A short stop in a traditional Canarian town for a Canarian coffee and a moment's rest before continuing the route.

Botanical Garden

A walk through a collection of plants characteristic of the Canary Islands and other subtropical regions. A well-designed botanical garden shows the archipelago's climatic diversity better than any description could.

Bufadero de La Garita

A natural ocean geyser on the volcanic coastline. At high tide, waves force their way into cracks in the rock platforms and shoot up a column of water and foam. The effect depends on sea conditions, but even on a calmer day it's a distinctive spot on the eastern coastline.

Playa Tufia

A small bay with white houses on the rocks above turquoise water. A place often compared to Greek fishing villages, which sounds unlikely in a Canarian context — until you actually get there.

Pico de Bandama

To close the day, a viewpoint by one of the island's most recognisable volcanic craters. From here you can see inside the Bandama crater and the north-eastern part of Gran Canaria.
