Tour details
Gran Canaria: From the Mountains to the Capital
Gran Canaria is smaller than Tenerife, but just as varied in landscape. On this route, in the course of a single day, you travel through the desert-like south, the mountainous centre, the green north and the capital. A licensed, Polish-speaking guide accompanies you throughout the day. The programme requires no trekking or long climbs, and suits families with children, couples and older travellers alike.
Degollada de la Yegua
The first stop is a viewpoint in the south of the island, from where you can see both the Maspalomas dunes and the mountainous interior at once. Two completely different landscapes in a single view.
Fataga and Cruz de Tejeda
The route continues along mountain roads toward the centre of the island. Along the way you pass the Valley of a Thousand Palms, one of Gran Canaria's most distinctive valleys, and the Cruz de Tejeda pass, one of the island's best-known viewpoints, with panoramic views in every direction.
Roque Nublo and Pico de las Nieves
The area around the highest points on Gran Canaria, close to 2,000 metres above sea level. On a clear day, Mount Teide on Tenerife can be seen from here. Roque Nublo, a volcanic monolith rising above the plateau, is one of the island's symbols.
Valleseco
The green northern part of Gran Canaria looks completely different from the resorts in the south. Fruit orchards, forests, a more humid climate and a local tradition of producing Canarian cider. Few people who came only for the beach ever make it here.
Teror
One of the best-preserved Canarian towns, with the famous Basilica of Our Lady of the Pine and the characteristic wooden balconies typical of local architecture. There's time for a walk and to sample local products.
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
To close the day, the historic Vegueta district in the island's capital. Santa Ana Cathedral, the area around the Columbus House and the old town's streets, which have kept the layout from the time of the first European settlers.
